“Throughout my art ‘career’ people have suggested that I make bigger pieces. In response I tried I making a few drawings and paintings larger than the standard paper size that I normally work on. However, I found very big pieces to be a lot less interesting to look at upon finishing. There's something very personal about small pieces, maybe it's in having to get up really close to them to check out the details.
When Éditions du Livre and I agreed to do a very tiny book together they suggested that I draw the same type of scenes that I normally do, albeit on a very small scale. Hence, this book largely contains a micro-sized version of the crumbling, former high-tech world that I have normally drawn. But this book is quite special
to me; I feel that it is likely the most perfect culmination of my post-apocalyptic inspired artwork. It functions like a little manuscript to be buried in time capsules, an interesting artifact from a savage time period to be studied under
a magnifying glass.” Matt Lock
